Terror on the West U playground: man charged with assaulting three youngsters

A 50-year-old man, standing 6-feet and weighing 175 pounds, has been charged with felony injury to a child for allegedly assaulting three children after school at West University Elementary School last Thursday.

Nebojsa Bandovic of the 2900 block of Bissonnet Street is due in Harris County Criminal Court Wednesday (date updated).

A parent told Channel 2 news that Bandovic’s child got into an altercation over a cell phone with another child after school at the WUES playground, and that when Bandovic arrived he chased three students. According to Tricia Harrison, when he caught up to them as they pounded on the front door of the school in fear, he slapped an 11-year-old boy (updated with age) across the face, leaving a “red mark and pain,” struck her son on the back of the head and punched the third child.

Houston ISD surveillance video captured the entire incident, according to court documents. InstantNews has requested access to the video from HISD. Harrison said an HISD sergeant warned her they are “extremely disturbing videos.”

Bandovic was charged the next day and arrested Monday.

“For harming them physically, mentally and emotionally, you know — I know my son will probably never be the same,” Harrison told Channel 2. “I hope he’s brought to justice…it’s terrifying to realize there is someone like that in our community.”
