Stolen Identity Plays Part In Outstanding Warrant Mix Up

West U Police pulled over a vehicle in the 3200 block of Albans for speeding and expired registration.

During the traffic stop, it appeared the driver had an outstanding warrant out of Walker County.

The driver was taken to the police department for further investigation.

Police found that the warrant was not for the driver in custody, but for a different person.

Someone had stolen the driver’s identity and was using it as an alias, police said.

The driver was released and was not issued a ticket for his traffic violation.

On July 16, someone stole a license plate off a vehicle in the 2600 block of Amherst .

On July 14, someone made unauthorized purchases using a West U resident’s credit/debit card.
