St. Luke’s Hosts ‘Vivation Bible School’ For Seniors

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and Gethsemane United Methodist Church invite seniors to Vivation Bible School, held at St. Luke’s, 3471 Westheimer, July 29 through July 31.

On Tuesday, July 29, seniors will meet in the Parlor at 10:30 a.m. Dennis “Corky” Fowler will host a bible study on The Lord’s Prayer until 11:45 a.m.. Fowler is a graduate of Oklahoma City University, received his M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and a Masters of Theological Study from Perkins School of Theology. Fowler is a member and past president of Kiwanis Club of Houston, member of Leadership Houston, past board member of Camp For All, past board member of Interfaith Ministries of Houston. He is a member of Gethsemane UMC.

Participants will have lunch from noon-12:30, followed by a service project from 12:30 p.m.-2:20 p.m. Seniors will assemble gift boxes for Interfaith Ministries “Food For Seniors” program.

On Wednesday, July 30, seniors will meet in the Fellowship Hall at St. Luke’s at 10:30 a.m. for a one-hour YMCA exercise class. Fowler will lead a The Good Samaritan bible study from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Lunch will be served from 1-1:30 p.m. From 1:30-3:30 p.m. seniors will play games, such as Chicken Foot or Rumikub. Participants can bring their own games to teach the group.

On Thursday, July 31, participants will meet in the staff break room at 9:30 a.m. to travel to Gethsemane UMC. Fowler will lead a “Mystery” bible study from 10-11:15 a.m. From 11:15-11:45 a.m. there will be a tour of the church, with lunch from noon-12:45 p.m. At 1 p.m., there will be a neighborhood tour, followed by a 2 p.m. tour of the Dunham Bible Museum at Houston Baptist University. The group will return to St. Luke’s at 3:30 p.m.
