February 13, 2009

Sr. Adult Ministries at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church is sponsoring a mobile shredding unit in the church parking lot from 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 28. Each person is limited to three 18 in. X 12 in. X 9 in. boxes or four paper grocery bags full of personal documents to be shredded, and the service is offered on a free, first-come, first-served basis.

AARP suggests shredding junk mail and old papers that include birth dates, signatures, account numbers, passwords, PINs or Social Security numbers.  Deposit slips and credit card receipts should be shredded after receiving a monthly statement.  Airline tickets, old medical bills, preapproved credit card applications, out of date IDs such as driver’s licenses and passports, and canceled checks not needed for tax purposes should also be shredded.

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church is located at 3471 Westheimer at Edloe. Call Marlys Barry at 713-402-5008 for more information.
