Slow Crime Week in West U

Hit and Run
At 12:52 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Sunset, to a minor traffic accident. The damage to the victim’s vehicle was the driver side mirror. The suspect and their vehicle are unknown at this time. There were no reporting witnesses.

Auto Break-In
At 7:42 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Rice for a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle that already occurred. The victims stated that between 5:45 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. an unknown person(s) broke into their vehicle and multiple items were stolen.

Unpaid Tickets Leads to Arrest
At 2:53 pm, an officer was dispatched to Fort Bend County jail in reference to a subject with outstanding warrants from the West University Place. The warrants were confirmed and officer took custody of the subject, who was then transported to the West University Place jail without incident.

Online Illegal Shopping Spree
At 1:19 pm, a police officer was dispatched to 3800 University in reference to an identity theft call. The victim stated an unknown person(s) used her credit card information to purchase several items from a woman’s online clothing store without her permission. Information was gathered and a report was generated.

Abandoned Child
At 4:10 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 4100 block of Byron, colonial park, in reference to a welfare check of a child. The reportee, a nanny service, stated they received a phone call from a nanny who was unable to care for a child she had in her custody. Upon the officer’s arrival, the nanny who was hired to take care of the child for a few hours stated she was unable to get in contact with the mother of the child. The officer took custody of the child and transported him to the West University Place Police Department for further investigation.

Running Stop Sign Leads to Arrest
An officer stopped a vehicle for running the stop sign at the intersection of Edloe St and Arnold St. The driver was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license and was subsequently arrested. The driver was booked into the West University Place jail for the offense of driving while license invalid – Class B.

Drunk Driver
At 12:26 am, an officer observed a vehicle travelling, with no headlights activated as required, northbound in the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle in the 5800 block of Buffalo Speedway. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The driver was arrested for that offense.
