Severe Weather Expected for West U Area
The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
They have issued a Flash Flood Watch for the West U area until midnight Thursday. A storm with the potential to bring heavy rainfall and powerful winds, and the possibility of tornadoes is expected sometime Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning.
The main threats from this storm system are:
• Flooding: 2-4 inches of rain is expected, with some areas receiving 4-7 inches.
• Damaging Winds: High winds which can blow down trees, and cause damage to utility poles.
• Tornadoes: With the threat of high winds, comes the possibility of isolated tornadoes, mainly late Tuesday night and Wednesday.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and be prepared to take action as flash flood warnings are issued.
