Senior Services Has Full Schedule For February
West U. Senior Services has a full schedule for residents in February. Tomorrow, Feb. 4, residents can take part in a resident-only Wal-Mart trip. The trip is free, and the shuttle departs at 10 a.m. For more information on senior activities, call 713-662-5895. Other activities include:
Feb. 10: Houston Zoo. The shuttle leaves at 8 a.m., cost is $15.
Feb. 11: Livingston. Seniors will tour the Polk County Museum, have lunch at the Courthouse Whistle Stop Café and more. Cost is $15, and the shuttle leaves at 8 a.m.
Feb.12 and13: AARP Defensive Driving. Classes are from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and residents must attend both days. Cost is $10 paid to the instructor.
Feb. 13: Home and Garden Show. Seniors can learn about the newest trends in home and garden supplies. The show begins at 10 a.m., and cost is $13.
Feb. 15: The Odd Couple. Seniors will head to the Texas Repertory Theatre for a production of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple. Cost is $13, and the shuttle leaves at 10 a.m.
Feb. 24: Mardi Gras Theme Meal. Senior services will celebrate Maris Gras with food and entertainment. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and cost $5 paid in advance.
Feb. 26: BBQ Championship. Seniors will go to Reliant Park for barbeque and live entertainment. The shuttle leaves at 10 a.m. and cost is $11.
Feb. 27: Crock-pot Chili Cook-Off. Residents can cook their favorite chili, and the winner will receive a cash prize of $25. Senior Services will provide cornbread. Samplings begin at 2 p.m. – participation and sampling are free.
