Robbers Hit Radio Shack’s After-Thanksgiving Sales
The after-Thanksgiving shopping bonanza turned scary for several employees of the Radio Shack in the 5800 block of Kirby Drive when a robber with a handgun stuck up the store with two accomplices.
The aggravated robbery happened Nov. 28 at around 9 p.m. when the store was still open for Black Friday shoppers.
“The business next door saw three suspects walking southbound and they looked like they all had thier faces covered,” said West U. Lt. Charlie Deily. He said they saw the three men enter Radio Shack, recognized the situation as a robbery, and then called police.
“It looked like a black male, baggy blue jeans and a black hoodie. And he had a handgun,” Deily said. The man struck a store employee and stole his money. The suspects also stuffed a white trash bag with small electronics like cameras and cell phones.
Police found some of the items dropped in the alley way behind Meineke Car Care Center, leading them to believe at least one suspect escaped on foot. They also saw a white vehicle leaving the scene and assumed some suspects were inside.
Officers gave chase to the vehicle fleeing northbound on Kirby, but they couldn’t catch the suspects because of heavy traffic. The car escaped onto the entrance ramp of Highway 59.
