Residents On Marathon Route Must Move Cars

January 12, 2010

While the city invites crowds of screaming fans to cheer on runners in this weekend’s Chevron Houston Marathon, there is one thing the city says should stay out of the roadway: Vehicles.

The annual marathon will blast through West University Place on Jan. 17, and homes located along or near the race route may be affected by road closures, announcements from Paul Wallin Field or the live band in front of City Hall.

The West U. Police Department asks that before the marathon begins, residents move all vehicles parked on the road along the race route.

The marathon course will travel west along University Boulevard from Kirby Drive, turning north on Weslayan Street to Bissonnet Street. Traffic will be restricted when the streets close from 7 to 11 a.m. View the entire list of street closures here (PDF).

Residents on the marathon route must move their cars from the road before 7 a.m. on Jan. 17.
