Resident Tries To Follow Would-be Car Burglars

A West U. resident tried unsuccessfully to get the license plate number of two men the resident said were trying to break into a truck in the 5500 block of Belmont around 12:05 a.m. May 25. The resident was unable to catch up to the suspects.

Police are investigating a death in the 5700 block of Simmons after receiving reports of an unconscious person inside the residence. Paramedics made entry into the home and found the individual deceased. The body was released to the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A car parked in the 3600 block of Bellaire Blvd. in a private parking lot was broken into at some point between 10:30 p.m. May 24 and 12:30 p.m. May 25. The suspects tried to pry open the passenger side door handle of the vehicle, then smashed the rear passenger window and stole property from the car.

A driver in the 5900 block of Buffalo Speedway was arrested around 10:30 a.m. May 26 after a traffic stop for having tinted film on the car’s tail lights. The driver was arrested for not having a driver’s license or proof of insurance.

The tires were stolen from a truck parked in the 6100 block of Lake sometime during the night of May 26. West U. police recently reported the tires stolen off of four vehicles in one night. Police say residents should park their cars in a garage if possible or close to the house in a well-lit area.

A driver traveling in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway was pulled over in the 3100 block of Bellaire Blvd. after changing lanes without signaling, and was arrested for having no driver’s license, no car insurance and for having a fake inspection sticker. On May 29, a driver in the 2800 block of Plumb was stopped for not having confirmed car insurance, and the officer discovered the driver had no driver’s license, no car insurance and a fake registration sticker.

A driver who stopped at a green light in the 6200 block of Weslayan around 2:15 a.m. May 29 was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

A car in the 2900 block of Lafayette was damaged on May 29 in what police are calling a case of criminal mischief.

An off-duty Houston police officer contacted West U. police on May 29 concerning possible drug use by two people in the 6200 block of Community. West U. police cited the two suspects for possession on drug paraphernalia.

A driver pulled over in the 4100 block of Bissonnet for a broken tail light was arrested for driving with a suspended license. One of the passengers was arrested for two outstanding warrants.
