Rain in the Forecast, Storm System Moving into West U Area Around Midday
The West U area is expected to see strong thunderstorms, some possibly severe, later today as a weather front moves into the area from the west.
No severe weather warnings have yet been issued for the local area; however, the National Weather Service said the storm front is expected to arrive around noon.
Heavy rain, lightning and strong winds can be expected later in the day.
As of 7 a.m., a severe storm watch had been issued for all counties around the San Antonio area and as far east as Gonzales County. As the storm system continues to trek to the east, weather watches may be expanded into the West U area.
There is an 80 percent chance of rainfall for today, with an afternoon high reaching into the high 70s. Skies will be clear rapidly after the storm system passes through the area.
By this evening, skies will become partly cloudy with an overnight low around 60 with light and variable winds.
