Presbyterian School Appoints New Headmaster
Presbyterian School has announced the appointment of Mark Carleton as its new Headmaster. Carleton has an
extensive background in independent schools as both an administrator and teacher, and he comes to Presbyterian School from Darlington School, a coeducational, college preparatory, day and boarding school in Rome, Georgia, where he served as Associate Headmaster, Academic Dean and Director of Upper School.
During his time at Darlington, Carleton was responsible for strengthening Upper School discipline and honor processes, beginning a servant leadership program for the Middle and Upper Schools, guiding the school through dual accreditation, strengthening faculty and administrative evaluation and compensation processes, opening discussions about PK-12 curricular cohesiveness, and reinvigorating the school’s spiritual life program, according to Presbyterian School representatives. Prior to his time at Darlington, Carleton served as the Academic Dean and Head of Upper School at Presbyterian Day School in Memphis, Tennessee.
