Police: Owners Keep Walking After Their Dog Bites Woman

June 16, 2009

Police are looking for the owners of a dog that bit a woman on June 9. According to the victim, she was walking her dog south on Academy as a couple was walking their dog north on Academy. Her dog approached the other dog, and as the victim was trying to get her dog away she was bitten on her left forearm by the couple’s dog. The victim says the couple continued to walk away, offering no assistance or information.

The victim required one stitch on three puncture wounds and two stitches on a fourth puncture wound. If the owners cannot be located with proof that their animal has been vaccinated for rabies, or the dog cannot be located for testing, the bite victim will have to undergo a series of painful rabies shots.

The dog is described as a young adult, tan/orange shepherd mix, tall and slender with short hair, a long tail and pointed ears. Anyone with information on the dog or the dog’s owners should call the West U. Police Department at 713-668-0330.
