Police Arrest Woman For Hiring Hit On Bellaire Resident
Houston police have arrested a woman who is accused of hiring a hit man to kill Bellaire resident Yvonne Stern.
Michelle Gaiser, 37, was charged with solicitation of capital murder after she was arrested at a law office on June 9.
Gaiser was allegedly having an affair with Yvonne Stern’s husband, Jeffery Stern, who is a prominent lawyer in Houston.
Jeffrey Stern was also arrested on June 9 for unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon. He was released from jail after posting a $30,000 bond.
Yvonne Stern was shot in the stomach, coming out of an apartment complex on North Braeswood, on May 5.
Yvonne Stern survived the shooting and was able to driver herself to a nearby gas station for help. She is currently recovering from the incident.
This was the third time since February that Yvonne Stern has been targeted.
The first shooting occurred on Feb. 11 in the 500 block of S. Third St.
Bellaire Assistant Police Chief Byron Holloway said neighbors heard gunshots and called the police. No one was injured during the incident and police were unable to locate the suspect.
The next day, Yvonne Stern’s son noticed a hole in the front window of their home. The babysitter called the police and they found a bullet lodged into a chair in the home.
On April 15, a man rang the doorbell of the Stern’s home and fired a shot into the door as Yvonne Stern went to answer the door. No one was injured during the incident.
Bellaire police released a sketch of the suspect from the April 15 shooting, but now the drawing has been discounted, Holloway said.
After the April 15 shooting, the family moved to an apartment complex on North Braeswood for safety reasons.
Bellaire Police Department and Houston Police Department are both investigating the case.
