Police Arrest Two Suspects In Stolen Car With Handgun
West University Place police “did good” last week when they caught two suspects riding in a stolen car: The driver was drunk, had no driver’s license and there was a handgun in the car.
“There were several different offenses going on in that car,” said Lt. Charlie Deily of the West U. Police Department. “[Police] did good on that one.”
At 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, a West U. officer pulled the car over because it was speeding in the 4200 block of Bissonnet Street. When the officer ran the license plate, he found the car had been reported stolen and he called for backup from the Bellaire and Southside Place Police Departments.
The traffic stop when smoothly. The driver, 17, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The passenger, 16, was arrested for criminal trespass of a motor vehicle.
“There were several items located in the car, and it looks like they found a handgun,” Deily said. “We haven’t figured out who belongs to the handgun yet.”
Police also recovered a GPS unit that had been reported stolen in a car burglary in the 3800 block of Law Street in Houston.
