Person Jailed for Soliciting Without a Permit, Other West U Crimes
At 1:49 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 4200 block of Oberlin in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim stated an unknown person(s) had shattered the front passenger side window of his vehicle by an unknown object, rummaged throughout the center console and glove compartment but did not remove anything. The victim also stated he left a bank 40 minutes prior and was possibly targeted for the cash he withdrew.
At 8:44 am, an officer was dispatched to the 3300 block of Cason in reference to case of criminal mischief that had already occurred. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim stated an unknown person(s) smashed the rear passenger window to her vehicle with an unknown object.
Stolen Identity to Apply for Credit Card
At 10:59 am, a police officer was dispatched to 3800 University in reference to an identity theft call. The victim stated an unknown person(s) used her personal information to submit an application for credit without her permission. Information was gathered and a report was generated.
Stolen Leaf Blower
At 12:34 pm, a police officer was dispatched to 6125 Annapolis in reference to a theft, which had already occurred. The person reporting the incident stated an unknown person(s) stole a leaf blower from the bed of a pickup truck. Information was gathered and a report was generated.
Illegal Use of Pay Pal Account
At 12:45 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Marquette in reference to fraudulent activity involving a pay pal account. Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim stated and unknown person(s) used her step grandsons name to scam money from her.
Stolen Identity to File for Tax Refund
An officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in regards to an identity theft that already occurred. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown subject(s) fraudulently filed a tax return using the victims’ information.

Arrested for Soliciting Without a Permit
Officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Barbara Lane in regards to subjects soliciting door to door. Officers located the subjects and identified them. The officers recognized one of the suspects from a similar call the same day which he was given a verbal warning and advised of the city ordinance. The suspects were discovered to be in violation of the city ordinance and were subsequently placed into custody for soliciting without a permit.
