One Bike Stolen, Two Found
Residents in the 6500 block of Vanderbilt told police on March 18 that a thief apparently climbed over a 6-foot iron gate and stole a bicycle from the driveway, lifting the bike back over the gate. Later in the day, a bike was found and taken to the police department by a resident. Another bike was found on March 20 in the 3000 block of Cason.
West U. police stopped a driver around 2:47 a.m. March 15 in the 6800 block of Buffalo Speedway for defective equipment on his vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license.
A resident told police on March 16 that an unknown person is sending him disturbing e-mails and text massages. The resident asked the person to stop via text message, but told police the person will not leave him alone.
Around 2:47 p.m. March 16, police were called to Belmont and Rice Boulevard regarding reports of reckless driving. When police arrived, the described car was found in the 2900 block of Rice Boulevard, locked and unoccupied. The driver returned to the scene, and police determined that the driver was in need to mental health care. An emergency detention order was obtained, and the driver taken to a mental health facility.
West U. police thought they may have found Houston robbery suspects around 3:16 a.m. March 17. A white Dodge Caravan with unconfirmed insurance was seen in the 2600 block of Tangley. The vehicle matched a description of robbery suspects out of Houston. The officer found that the suspects had criminal tools in the car, but HPD told West U. police that they were not the robbery suspects. All suspects were identified though fingerprints.
A resident came to the police station on March 9 and told police that she was missing property, but wasn’t sure if it was lost or stolen.
On March 18, a resident in the 6400 block of Rutgers told police that someone broke out the driver’s side window of her car and stole her purse. On March 21, a resident in the 6500 block of Mercer reported that someone entered his unlocked car and stole his laptop. An hour later, police responded to a car burglary in the 5300 block of Kirby. The victim told police that someone broke a window in his car and stole his backpack.
A driver was arrested for no driver’s license or car insurance after being pulled over on March 19 for failing to signal at an intersection in the 2600 block of Tangley. Another driver was arrested for the same offenses on March 20 after being pulled over in the 3900 block of Northwestern for not having license plates. A driver pulled over in the 2600 block of University for a defective taillight was arrested for lack of car insurance and two warrants out of the Houston Police Department.
A solicitor without a permit was arrested on March 19 in the 4200 block of Bissonnet.
