New Pool-Themed Signs Outline Rules at Colonial Pool

West U residents who are headed to the pool this weekend will be greeted with new signage outlining the rules at Colonial Park Pool.

The City of West U has purchased five pool-themed signs that will be posted in different areas of the pool. The signs will be on display for the first time this weekend.

Recreation Manager Brittany Bakes told InstantNewsWestU that the signage project has been in the works for the past year. Staff wanted signs that fit in with the theme of the pool, but could also make it easier for lifeguards to enforce the rules.

The city used a sign company that designs signs for Disneyland. The five new signs, which cost about $8,000, are in the shapes of a walrus, a shark, a frog, a crocodile and a dolphin.

The following pool rules are on display:

Welcome to Colonial Park Pool:

Because we care, no person under 10 permitted in the pool area without an adult.

Pool area reserved only for West U residents and their guests. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed.

U.S. Coast Guard approved floatation devices only.

For safety, all non-toilet trained swimmers must wear a diaper with plastic pants and diapers must be changed in the dressing rooms and discarded immediately.

The lifeguard staff is here for your safety. Please so not distract them while on stand. If you have any questions about our facility or any of our Pool Rules, the Manager on Duty will be happy to help you.

Lily Pad Rules:

Swimmers must be tall enough to reach ropes in order to use Lily Pads.

No hanging upside down on cargo net.

Must exit the area immediately after falling.

Diving Well Rules:

Only 1 person on the diving board at a time.

Divers must wait until diving area is clear.

Divers must jump straight off the board.

No back flips, cut-a-ways or gainers allowed.

Lady Croc and Floating Log Rules:

No swimming underneath the Floating Log or Lady Croc.

No diving, pushing or rough horseplay allowed.

Be Careful

No running, pushing or rough horseplay.

Dive in designated areas only.

Be Safe

U.S. Coast Guard approved floatation devices only.

Always swim with a buddy.

Be Clean

Please help keep the pool clean by putting all trash in garbage cans.

No food or drink in the water.

The pool is open on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m. Sunday’s hours are 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The pool is open every weekend until Memorial Day.
