Musical Theater Contest Includes West U Schools
A handful of high schools in the Bellaire and West U areas will compete against each other and 39 other local schools in a musical theater competition called the Tommy Tune Awards.
Houston’s Theatre Under The Stars hosts the competition, which will send out a team of 35 local theater professionals to evaluate the competing high schools’ 2009-2010 productions. TUTS will announce the winners in April 2010.
The Tommy Tune Awards are meant to acknowledge remarkable musical theater artists at the high school level, encourage their future in the profession and give them recognition from their peers. TUTS will send the winners for Best Actor and Best Actress to a week-long national event to compete for a four-year scholarship to New York University.
