McDonough Named Principal of Bellaire High School

August 21, 2012

Michael McDonough has been named the new principal of Bellaire High School.

Houston ISD Superintendent Terry Grier made the announcement yesterday.

McDonough served for eight years as a math teacher at Attucks Middle School and then Westbury High School.

In addition to teaching math, McDonough was a lead teacher, soccer coach, served on the Shared Decision Making Committee at both schools and was a mentor teacher.

McDonough began his administrative career with a year-long principal internship under the guidance of Bill Lawson, then the principal at Bellaire High School. After three years as an assistant principal at Bellaire, he became the principal of Pin Oak Middle School – where he grew the school and provided leadership for almost six years.

For the past three years, McDonough has served as principal of Westside High School.

A native Houstonian, McDonough received his Master of Education degree from the University of Houston.
