Matthews Market Plans Resubmitted
After the City of West U. denied his original plans and returned a list of corrections needed, Jim Reid has resubmitted his plans for Matthews Marker at 6203 Edloe. The city’s review of the corrected plans should be complete by next week, and Reid could either receive a building permit or a second denial if the plans still don’t meet city specifications.

Corrections made to the original plan include an asbestos survey that was apparently completed in February. The survey indicates that the building contains asbestos in the window caulking, which could require asbestos abatement if the windows are to be modified, as indicated in the original plans. If the windows are left as is, the abatement is not required.
The review also indicated the need for approval from the Harris County Health Department for the planned kitchen and food service area. Without approval of the planned food service area from the county, a building permit will not be issued. It is unclear if such approval has been acquired.
Corrections to discrepancies in the square footage of certain areas in the building resulted in drastic changes from the original plans. The “order” area went from 570 sq. ft. to 200 sq. ft. and the kitchen service area from 430 sq. ft. to 618 sq. ft.
Reid has apparently secured an agreement with the neighboring property to share a dumpster.
