Mark Twain Principal Reinstated, Admits To ‘Inappropriate Remarks’
Mark Twain Principal Joyce Dauber will be reinstated after admitting to making “inappropriate remarks” to teachers concerning the placement of her grandson.
Dauber was recently reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of an Equal Employment Opportunity office investigation prompted by a group of teachers claiming Dauber made racially insensitive comments. One of the eight allegations was confirmed during the investigation.
“The principal acknowledges that her actions were wrong and highly inappropriate. She regrets her actions and is very remorseful. Mrs. Dauber has been appropriately disciplined for these actions,” said Adriana Tamez, HISD Central Region Superintendent, in a statement.
“Mrs. Dauber will be reinstated as principal to Mark Twain Elementary School. I will be working very closely with Mrs. Dauber this year to ensure that she establishes and maintains appropriate and positive relationships with her entire school community. Mrs. Dauber has been a strong principal and has created successful educational opportunities for students at Mark Twain Elementary School. I expect much continued academic success for all students at the campus.”
