Loud Sound System Leads To Arrest
A loud sound system led to the arrest of a man in the 5800 block of Buffalo Speedway around 7 a.m. Aug. 10. West University Place police officers noticed the volume of the system and pulled the driver over. The driver had no driver’s license, no proof of insurance, and was arrested.
A driver going 42 mph in a 30 mph was pulled over in the 5200 block of Buffalo Speedway around 2:10 a.m. Aug. 11 and arrested for driving while intoxicated after refusing all sobriety tests.
A man was arrested for fraudulent use of identifying information after a resident in the 3000 block of University Blvd. pointed out his car after she says he stole mail out of her mailbox. After police pulled Raamond Ondre Dowdell over, they found two personal checks in his possession which were found to have been stolen out of another West U. resident’s mailbox. Dowdell has been charged with three counts of fraudulent use of identification.
Officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway after a call from West U. medics concerning an emotional patient. A witness told police that the patient made threats against family members and emergency personnel. The patient was taken to Ben Taub Hospital for psychiatric help and officers applied for an emergency detention order.
Around 10:33 p.m. on Aug. 13 an officer noticed a car weaving in and out of lanes in the 6200 block of Buffalo Speedway. The driver also failed to use turn signals. The car was stopped in the 3100 block of Duke, and while speaking to the driver, the officer noticed marijuana residue on the center console. The driver, Jarrett Alan Wadler, admitted to the officer that there was marijuana in the car, and Wadler was arrested for possession of marijuana.
An officer on patrol in the 3600 block of Sunset around 7:54 a.m. Aug. 14 noticed a car parked illegally, with the right front tire more than a foot over the curb on the grass. The car had damage on the left side from the rear bumper to the front driver’s door. The left rear tire was flat. The officer contacted the registered owner after running the license plate number. The owner lived in a nearby home, and told the officer the car had not been parked in its current position nor did it have any damage the last time the resident saw it. An accident report was completed.
A domestic disturbance was reported in the 2700 block of Talbot around 6:42 p.m. Aug. 14.
Officers pulled over a vehicle in the 6700 block of Annapolis around 7:38 p.m. Aug. 14 after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The officer smelled marijuana after approaching the car, and when asked, the passenger pulled a bag of marijuana from his pocket. The driver was released without charges and William James Weaver was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Around 1:38 a.m. Aug. 15, officers noticed a car weaving in and out of a lane in the 6200 block of Buffalo Speedway. The car was stopped in the 3100 block of Jarrard, and the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
A car left unlocked with the keys inside was stolen from the 2700 block of Plumb sometime before 6 p.m. on Aug. 15. The Houston Police Department later found the vehicle.
An antique sleigh bed and mattress set was stolen from the guest house of a residence in the 3200 block of Albans on Aug. 16. A report was taken and a case number assigned.
