Loose Dog Bites Resident
A resident was bit by a loose dog in the 4000 block of Marquette around 11:35 a.m. Nov. 30. The resident was trying to get two dogs out of the roadway when he was bit. The owner was located, and told police the front door of the owner’s home was blown open, and the dogs got out. The owner showed police vaccination records for the dogs. No medical attention was needed for the resident who was bitten.
Police reported a failure to stop and give information on Dec. 1 in the 3100 block of Georgetown.
A woman attempting to get behind the bar at the Marquis II in the 2600 block of Bissonnet on Dec. 2 was arrested for public intoxication after the hit a West U. police officer in the stomach. While conducting routine check at the bar, the officer saw the woman trying to get behind the bar, even though the bartender told her she was not allowed. When the officer told the woman she was not allowed behind the bar, she hit the officer in the abdomen. The officer took her outside and placed her under arrest.
A purse was stolen from a car in the 5300 block of Rutgers on Dec. 3.
A resident in the 5900 block of Fordham told police that an unknown person used her bank account information and routing number on a fraudulent check to purchase items from a department store in Colorado.
A resident in the 6400 block of Community told police on Dec. 4 that some time during the night before, someone stole both license plates off of her car.
A driver pulled over in the 6400 block of Academy around 10:46 a.m. Dec. 4 was arrested for having no driver’s license or car insurance.
West U. police failed to find a man who jumped from a vehicle and ran after evading police. Police initially attempted to stop the driver around 4:30 a.m. Dec. 5 in the 2600 block of Tangley. According to reports, the suspect was driving without headlights. The driver refused to stop, and led police on a 15-mile chase before jumping from the car and running.
The glass front door of a business in the 5800 block of Kirby was broken in what police describe as a case of criminal mischief. Police secured the store until the manager arrived. In another case of criminal mischief, police were called to the 6100 block of Edloe, where a resident told officers that someone broke out the back window of his Volkswagen Beetle.
The cloth roof was cut and the rear window was stolen from a car parked in the 2700 block of Barbara Lane at some point during the night of Dec. 5.
Tools were stolen out of a garage in the 3200 block of Cason on Dec. 6.
A solicitor without a permit was arrested Dec. 6. Police received a call about the solicitor from a resident in the 2600 block of Centenary. Police saw the man soliciting in the 2700 block of Pittsburg and placed him under arrest from violating city ordinance.
A resident came to the police station on Dec. 6 to report that she was receiving alarming text messages on her cell phone.
