Lamar Students To Hold Mock Presidential Debate

The Lamar young Democrats and Lamar Young Republicans will hold a mock presidential debate around 4 p.m. today, Oct. 28, in the school’s cafeteria.

The format includes eight questions, with two minutes each candidate for a response, and one minute for each candidate’s rebuttal. Students will assume the position and character of the actual candidates and debate the issues from that standpoint. Questions include:

  • What are your solutions for today’s economy? (McCain, Obama)
  • How do you plan to deal with the environmental issues facing the U.S.? (Obama, McCain)
  • What plan do you have for Health Care in the U.S.? (Biden, Palin)
  • How would you solve our immigration problems? (Biden, Palin)
  • What are your views on drilling in the U.S. and alternative energy? (McCain, Obama)
  • What is your plan for the troops we have in Iraq and other parts of the world? (Obama, McCain)
  • What is your judicial philosophy, specifically what would be your qualifications for a Supreme Court justice? (Palin, Biden)
  • Explain why you and your running mate are qualified for the jobs of President and Vice President of the United States of America. (Biden, Palin)
