Lamar HS History Book On-sale

February 11, 2014

History buffs will treasure a new book about the history of Lamar High School.

The Lamar Alumni Association recently commissioned local historian Anne Sloan to write a history of Lamar as part of the school’s 75th anniversary celebration. During Sloan’s year-long research, she interviewed more than 200 alumni and teachers. The result is a 225-page hardback book of wonderful stories about the reasons behind Lamar’s location and building style; why its graduates have gone on to become governors, scientists, artists, business leaders, Broadway and Hollywood stars, and famous athletes; and why Lamar remains a great school today. The book contains hundreds of photos of people, places and events through the years.

Books are available to PTO members and teachers at a discount of $40, compared to the $50 regular price. They may be purchased with a check or credit card from Lamar’s Alumni Office.
