Lamar High School Student Finalist In The HISD Holiday Greeting Card Design
Emily Laird, a junior at Lamar High School, was named a finalist in the Houston Independent School District’s annual holiday greeting-card design contest. Laird is an International Baccalaureate diploma candidate and is also a member of the National Honor Society. The HISD holiday greeting-card design contest is open to all students in the district. Each school chooses one design and submits it to its regional office. The five regional offices and the Alternative and Charter School Office each select four designs, and then the superintendent of schools chooses the winning artwork. Superintendent Abelardo Saavedra and regional superintendents will honor this year’s winner, Nadia Garcia, and the other 22 finalists on Dec. 17 at a reception at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center.
