Lake Charles Residents Arrested For ‘Shopping For Illegal Scripts’
West U police arrested two women for possession of several prescription drugs and marijuana in the 5800 block of West Point on May 11.
Jacklyn Johnson, a 31-year-old Lake Charles, LA resident, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Amanda Ware, a 29-year-old Lake Charles, LA resident, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
West U police pulled over their vehicle because they were driving without registration. When they were pulled over, they told police they had just driven up from Lake Charles and were on their way to visit Ware’s sister. The two women were unable to tell police where she lived or provide them with her phone number.
Police searched their vehicle and found marijuana, amphetamines, muscle relaxants, pain killers, anxiety medication and several prescriptions from numerous doctors.
“They were out doctor shopping and pharmacy shopping for illegal scripts,” Lt. Charlie Deily said.
Both Johnson and Ware had criminal histories.
The Drug Enforcement Agency was contacted to assist in the investigation. This incident is under investigation.
On May 9, Casey Holm, 23, was arrested for not using his turn signal and having a marijuana pipe in his vehicle in the 3500 block of Albans.
West U police pulled Holm over after he failed to use a turn signal in the 3600 block of Sunset.
Deily said Holm refused to cooperate and was arrested for the traffic offense and having drug paraphernalia.
