Judson Park Tennis Court To Close For Improvements
The City of West U will close the tennis court at Judson Park for repairs in the coming months.
The northeast corner of the court has been impacted by subsidence and the damaged area will need to be demolished, stabilized and resurfaced.
The project also involves resetting of the tennis net supports and other court amenities and repainting of the court and lines.
The repairs are not expected to last indefinitely, but should be good for three to five years, Parks and Recreation Director Tim O’Connor said.
The cost of the repairs is $9,500 and was budgeted in the 2011 parks budget.
A permanent fix would involve the complete replacement of the court, which was estimated to cost $150,000. Staff determined that the subsidence needed to be addresses because it will continue to worsen, O’Connor said.
City staff will meet with the tennis instructors to determine the best time to close the court.
The project is expected to take about six weeks to complete.
