Jeep Collides With House On Browning Street
A West U. woman last week was at home blow drying her hair, heard a big “Boom,” and was startled to find an unwelcome visitor near her front porch. It was a Jeep Cherokee.
The Cherokee belonged to the across-the-street neighbor in the 4000 block of Browning. The neighbor had hired a man to complete some housework, and she asked him to start the Cherokee for her.
When the man hopped into the passenger seat of the Jeep and cranked the engine, it turned out it was already in gear, said West U. Lt. Charlie Deily. The Jeep jolted forward and crossed the street.
“The vehicle went up the curb and wrecked into the front porch,” Deily said. He said the Cherokee’s owner immediately offered to take care of repairs to her neighbor’s porch. The damage to the Cherokee totaled about $2,000, Deily said.
“I bet she starts her own car from now on,” he said.
