IWA Students Win Honors In UST/Archdiocesan Essay Contest
Heidi Schruben, a ninth grader at Incarnate Word Academy, won first place in her class division in the University of St. Thomas/Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Essay contest. Other honors were awarded to tenth-grader Jessica Lancaster for second place in her class division, honorable mention for eleventh-grader Victoria Cote in her class division, and to twelfth-grader Caroline Clark for third place among seniors.
The fifth annual essay contest invites 43 Catholic schools in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese to compete, with a total of 2,500 essays submitted to the contest. This year’s essay theme was “Catholic Education Celebrates Service.”
