More than 480 children hopped aboard to participate in Vacation Bible School at West University Baptist Church. Themed “Boomerang Express,” VBS took participants on an imaginary train ride across the Land Down Under with a week of crafts, games, songs and Christ-centered worship.

The Jenkins family was among the record number of West U. families that participated in Vacation Bible School activities at West U. Baptist Church.

Among the week’s highlights was a mission project for Happy Feet International, which ministers to children in third-world countries by providing new shoes and socks. Children also invited their parents and neighbors to a Thursday-evening performance, classroom visits and outdoor activities, refreshments and live music.

Spearheading this year’s action-packed program was VBS director Allyson Connelly, backed by children’s ministry director Barbara Chrisman, 117 volunteers, church administrators, Pastors Barry Landrum and Roger Patterson, and Crosspoint Church campus director Kirby Trapolino.
