Huffman Campaign Says $126,767 Raised Between July, September
Texans for Joan Huffman announced the campaign raised $126,767 between July 1 and Sept. 25, and that the campaign had $877,856 on hand as of Sept. 25. Since announcing her candidacy earlier this year, Huffman has raised $404,792 for her campaign.
“These numbers are just more proof that it’s becoming a two-person race between Huffman and Bell,” said Huffman campaign manager Jessica Colón.
Just before the reporting period ended, Huffman formed Texans for Joan Huffman, a specific-purpose political action committee, and transferred her campaign funds to the committee. In late June, candidate Austen Furse similarly created a specific-purpose political action committee.
The special election to be held Nov. 4, will fill the vacancy created by Sen. Kyle Janek’s resignation. A runoff will follow if no candidate in the special election gets a majority of the vote. On the ballot are Democrats Bell and Stephanie Simmons and Republicans Huffman, a Southside Place resident and former Harris County felony court judge, Furse, West U. resident, businessman and former George H.W. Bush Administration appointee and Harris County Republican precinct chair Grant Harpold.
