Houston Resident Arrested After High Speed Chase

June 9, 2010

West U police arrested a woman who led them on a high speed chase after they tried to pull her over for not using her turn signal.

Ta Chyna Watson, a 22-year-old Houston resident, was arrested for evading police on June 1.

Police attempted to stop Watson in the 5700 block of College for not using her turn signal. Watson did not pull over, but instead led police on a 20 mile chase, reaching speeds of 100 mph.

During the chase, Watson threw a whiskey bottle out of her 2006 Mercury Milan while she was driving south on IH 610.

During the pursuit, she used her turn signal every time she changed lanes and smoked at least two cigarettes, Lt. Charlie Deily said.

Watson finally pulled over in a parking lot in the 10200 block of Market St.

Deily said she was very particular about how she got down on the ground because she did not want to get dirty, but followed instructions.

Watson told police that she felt she was being pulled over for no reason, Deily said.

Both Bellaire Police Department and Houston Police Department assisted in the pursuit.
