Houston Express 96G Navy Team Competes in USYSA 2012 National President’s Cup
The Houston Express 96G Navy Team represented Texas in the US Youth Soccer 2012 National President’s Cup in Sacramento, Calif. last week.
The 16U team, which is made up of girls from the West U and Bellaire area, lost to California’s Platinum FC Cleary Team in the Championship on Sunday, 0-1.
The 96G Navy Team beat Platinum FC Cleary 3-0 on Thursday, July 12. The Express Team tied with Central FC Select Strikers (WI) 1-1 on Friday, July 13 and defeated Capital United Blue Fusion (NY-E) 1-0 on Saturday, July 14.
“This group of girls played their hearts out,” said Houston Express Vice President and West U resident Adrian Crespo. “They set the bar high for the rest of our teams and have given something tangible for all of the families and players that are part of HESC to dream about.”
“The fact that this team made it to the National Championship speaks volumes of this group’s commitment, dedication and talent,” he said.
The 96G Navy Team are State and Region III Champions. They are the only girl’s team to make the Final Four this year out of Texas at any level.
The team is coached by Mark Gibbs and managed by David Marks.
Players include Hannah Beckman, Madison Bentley, Yamiles Bravo, Olivia Brook, Nina Buturovic, Aubrey Cloutier, Nicole Dupin, Emma Durain, Lulu Goldinblais, Robin Kelsey, Lindsey Lafitte, Alexandra Marks, Aisha Marin, Ferne Maulsby, Sara Mirza, Makayla Mueller, Sarah Tharpe, Karen Torres and Ellie Valega.
