Houston Christian Mustang Players to Perform ‘As You Like It’
The Houston Christian Mustang Players will present William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” in the Black Box Theater on the campus of HC, located at 2700 West Sam Houston Pkwy North.
Performances will be held on Oct. 26, 27, 29 and on Nov. 3, 4, and 5 at 7:30 p.m.
“The actors’ tireless dedication and passion remind me of why I love theatre,” said Matt Logan, director and HC drama teacher. “Performances will stun you during this show.”
“As You Like It” is a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare that follows a heroin Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle’s court. The HC Mustang Players will be doing a Great Depression era adaptation of this classic, while observing how often people only focus on the hardships of depression and poverty. In the play, several people lose everything and yet find joy.
The HC Drama Department focuses on mixing academically challenging material such as Shakespeare with great Musical Theatre culminating in a production for both each year. The HC Drama department is a winner of the 2011 Tommy Tune Award for best choreography and musical staging.
General admission tickets are $15; student tickets are $10. Tickets may be purchased online, at the door on the night of the performance, or by calling HC at 713-580-6095.
