HISD To Hold ‘Community Connection’ Meeting At Lamar High School
In an effort to provide parents and the community with information regarding the academic and extra-curricular programs and support services that the Central Region provides for its schools, Houston Independent School District’s central region administration will hold a series of “Community Connections” meetings during the month of October.
The local meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Lamar High School, 33325 Westheimer.
In addition to student performances, the many agencies that are partners with the schools will offer information for families and other community members. Representatives from Aramark (food services), the Virtual School, Volunteers in Public Schools, the Success Express bus, CHIP and a variety of other community service agencies will be on hand at the Community Connections meetings.
“75% of the Central Region schools have earned the highest accountability ratings of Recognized or Exemplary for 2008 as issued by the Texas Education Agency,” said Adriana Tamez, Central Region superintendent. “The hard work and dedication of our executive principals, principals and teachers; our students’ drive to succeed; and the support of a community that is both informed and involved contributed to the academic success of our schools and we are committed to continue to focus on what is best for our students.”
