Gasoline Prices Continue Upward Climb

Average retail gasoline prices in Houston and the West University Place area have risen another 5.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.55 per gallon today.

This compares with the national average that increased 4.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.74 per gallon, according to gasoline price website HoustonGasPrices.com.

Last week’s increase was on top of a 6-cent rise the week before.

Including the change in gas prices during the past week, prices today are 79.2 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 11.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 9.6 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 80.7 cents per gallon higher than this day a year ago.
