Gas Prices Continue to Drop, Now Average $3.36 in the West U Area

June 12, 2012

Average retail gasoline prices in West U dropped again last week, averaging $3.36 per gallon as of yesterday.

The local price compares with a national average that has fallen in the last week to $3.56 per gallon, according to gasoline price website

Senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan said the recent decline in gas prices may be about to bottom out.

“While price decreases have heated up on the West Coast, such decreases are drying up in other areas, such as the Great Lakes,” DeHaan said. “While current factors still point to some falling gasoline prices in some areas, mainly the West Coast, oil prices haven’t continued to shed as much value in the past week. Prices in the past few years have bottomed out in June, we could see a similar situation play out this year.”

Including the change in gas prices in West U during the past week, prices yesterday were 28.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.
