Friends & Neighbors Guild Members Imagine New Programs
West University Place moms brought their kids to Huffington Park Thursday morning to participate in the first playgroup event hosted by a rejuvenated group that hopes to offer opportunities to socialize, volunteer and contribute ideas for new city programs.
The Friends and Neighbors Guild held its first meeting in late September, and since then volunteers have popped up to organize a playgroup, book club, dinner club, bunko group and tennis club, said Adrienne Vanderbloemen, the chair of the guild.
The groups will function on their own until the city finishes constructing the new Recreation Center and Colonial Park Pool facility. Then city staff will help formally sign members up for groups and activities.
West U. moms already have ideas for the activities they’d like to see.
