Flash Flood Watch in Effect All Day
Following overnight rainfall, and with additional precipitation expected throughout the day, a flash flood watch has been issued for the West U area.
The watch will remain in effect through this evening.
As of this morning, West U has received 0.52 inches of rainfall, according to a monitoring station at Brays Bayou and Stella Link Road.
Additionally, a flash flood warning is in effect until 8:15 a.m. and a flood advisory is in effect until 9:30 a.m. for parts of Harris County.
Forecasters said some locations have received between and 5 and 10 inches of rain the past couple days and additional heavy rainfall will runoff quickly to produce flash flooding.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.
Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation and residents are urged to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
