Five Car Burglaries Reported In Five Days
The West U. police department reported five car burglaries between Dec. 13 and Dec. 17. The break-ins occurred in the 6600 block of Buffalo Speedway on Dec. 13, the 3900 block of Ruskin on Dec. 14, the 2700 block of Werlein on Dec. 15, the 2900 block of Wroxton on Dec. 16 and the 4200 block of Villanova on Dec. 16. Power tools were also stolen out the garage on the home on Villanova.
Police made an arrest for public intoxication on Dec. 16, after a resident called police to report someone acting erratically in the 3700 block of University Boulevard around 4 p.m. Another public intoxication arrest was made on Dec. 17, after police saw the suspect walking unsteadily in a parking lot in the 5700 block of Kirby Drive.
A traffic stop for speeding led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia around 8:38 a.m. Dec. 19. The driver was traveling 50 mph in the 4000 block of Bissonnet when West U. police stopped the car. The driver had an active warrant with the Bellaire Police Department. While officers were taking inventory of the vehicle, an open container of alcohol and a pipe that smelled like burnt marijuana were found. The suspect was cited for the open container and released to a Bellaire police officer.
A resident in the 4200 block of South Judson reported jewelry theft to police on Dec. 19.
Police arrested a suspect for theft from the Whole Foods in the 4000 block of Bellaire Boulevard around 4:53 p.m. Dec. 19.
A patron of the Marquis II in the 2600 block of Bissonnet was arrested after police were called to the bar when the man refused to leave. As police escorted the customer out of the bar, he tried to hit the manager of the bar. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication.
