First Methodist Houston To Honor Teachers
Teachers from public and private schools, pre-school through college, as well as Sunday school teachers, are invited to attend and be honored at morning worship services at First Methodist Houston on Sunday, Sept. 7.
The worship services are 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. at First Methodist Houston Downtown, 1320 Main at Clay.
The services are 9 a.m. and 11:12 a.m. at First Methodist Houston Westchase, 10570 Westpark Drive at Sam Houston Tollway.
Senior Pastor Dr. Steve Wende said his congregation is honoring teachers because they have such a direct impact on young people’s lives.
“As you think back, at least one teacher probably made a difference in your life,” Wende said. “We would like to use this opportunity to honor our teachers, though each location will do that in a different way.”
Downtown, the teachers will receive boutonnières, prayer during the worship and a reception afterwards.
At Westchase, teachers will be identified by name on a procession piece and invited to join in a procession to the altar for blessing. Afterwards, they will receive a special gift at a reception.
To reserve a spot for a special teacher attending the First Methodist Westchase services, call 713-458-4700 or e-mail email@example.com; however, reservations are not required.
Drawing participation from all over the city, First Methodist Houston is a two-campus congregation of about 5,000 members. First Methodist Houston Downtown offers traditional Sunday worship services at 8:45 and 11 a.m. It has a casual service at 6 p.m.
First Methodist Houston Westchase offers a traditional worship service Sundays at 9 a.m. and a contemporary worship service at 11:12 a.m., and welcomes individuals with special needs to all services at Westchase.
A healing service is offered at 6:30 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month at the Westchase location.
The church also has an extensive program of missions and Bible studies.
