Dyslexia Awareness Is Focus Of Saturday Talks
In recognition of National Dyslexia Awareness Month, the Houston Independent School District is hosting a Parent Dyslexia Awareness Day on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HISD Headquarters, 4400 West 18th Street, 77092.
Featured speakers include Brenda Taylor, state dyslexia consultant from Dallas, and James ‘Jim’ Carter, president of the Houston Branch International Dyslexia Association. Ms. Taylor will speak about “Parent Education: Accommodations in Schools,” and Jim Carter will speak about “The Characteristics of Dyslexia and the Role of the International Dyslexia Association, past, present and future.”
