Deadline has Arrived for Those Owing Business Personal Property Tax
If you owe business personal property tax, the Harris County Tax Office wants to remind you that now is the time to pay.
Delinquent business personal property tax accounts will be turned over to attorneys for collection on April 3.
At that time, a 15-20 percent penalty will be added to any unpaid balance.
“The week of Feb. 27, we sent about 45,000 notices to persons with delinquent business personal property accounts. We warned them that state law now allows this early turnover of accounts like theirs. This year, 64 of the 66 jurisdictions for which the Tax Office collects chose the early collection date,” Tax Assessor-Collector Don Sumners said. “The 15-20 percent penalty is a major extra cost. I hope those who owe pay on or before Monday, April 2.”
Payments can be made at the 15 Tax Office Branch Offices, online at www.hctax.net or by telephone at 713-368-CARD (2273).
Business owners also can avoid the additional collection penalty if they enter into an installment agreement with the tax office by April 2.
Persons with questions about their accounts or who want to arrange an installment agreement should call the Tax Office at 713-368-2000.
