Crime Report: Resident Confronts Bike Thief on Annapolis

Traffic Violation

At 12:13 pm, an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Bellaire. After further investigation, the driver was placed into custody for operating a motor vehicle with no driver’s license.

Burglary of Habitation

At 1:02 pm, officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Nottingham for a report of a theft that just occurred of a bicycle. The victim said that an unknown black male entered her garage and took bicycle without her permission and fled on the bicycle north on Wakeforest then to destinations unknown. The call would be changed to a residential burglary.

Theft

At 12:57 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 3000 block of Carnegie in regards to a missing diamond engagement ring. The victim stated she doesn’t know what happened to the ring and is unsure if someone took it from her property. She advised the last time she saw the ring was in November 2012 and now needed a report for an insurance claim.

Possession of  Narcotics

At 4:00 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway. During the course of the traffic stop investigation, it was discovered that the driver was in possession of marijuana. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Theft

At 7:14 am, officer’s were dispatched to the 6100 block of Annapolis in regards to a theft in progress. Upon arrival the suspect had already fled the scene. The victim advised the officer’s a male was standing in the driveway when he confronted him. The suspect then stole the victims bicycle from the driveway and was last seen on the bike riding northbound in the 6100 block of Annapolis. No suspects were located at this time.

Driving while license suspended

At 9:03 am, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 5300 block of Westchester for fictitious license plates and a brake light malfunction. During the course of the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver had a suspended driver’s license and no valid insurance for the vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving while license invalid.

Burglary of motor vehicle

At 10:02 am, an officer was dispatched to the 3800 block of University to meet with a victim of a burglary of motor vehicle that occurred on Monday, April 1, 2013, between the hours of 5:30pm-8:00pm. The victim stated an unknown person entered his unlock vehicle and took his laptop that was located on his front passenger seat or the rear passenger floorboard. The officer gathered the information for the report given the victim a copy of the case number.

Theft

At 12:15 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 3300 block of University in reference to a theft that had already occurred. The victim stated that unknown person(s) made entry without her consent into her vacant home and took various items. The victim also stated two air conditioning units that were located on the outside of the residence were taken without her permission.

Forgery

At 1:12 pm, an officer was dispatched to meet with a victim of a forgery at the WUPD. The victim said unknown persons used her bank account information to create and cash several checks at various locations in the San Antonio, TX area.

Driving while license suspended

At 2:15 pm, an officer observed a passenger vehicle traveling southbound in the 5600 block of Buffalo Speedway with an expired inspection certificate. A traffic stop was conducted in the 3100 block of Rice and after further investigation the driver was arrested for the offense of driving while license invalid.
