Crime Report: Police Investigating Rash of Easter Weekend Car Burglaries

Possession of Narcotics 

At 3:29 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound in the 6400 block of Buffalo Speedway with an expired inspection sticker.  Moments later, the officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in the 3200 block of Duke.  After the officer made contact with the driver, it was discovered that the driver had two outstanding warrants with the City of Houston. The officer requested dispatch to confirm the warrants with the Houston Police Department in which they were able to confirm the warrants. The officer then placed the driver in custody and during an inventory of the driver’s vehicle, officer(s) discovered an orange pill bottle containing a green leafy substance (marijuana).  Officers seized the pill bottle containing the green leafy substance and the driver was then charged with possession of marijuana.

Theft 

On 04/04/12, an officer was dispatched to the office of the West University Place Police Department to meet with a person concerning a theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, the officer met with the reportee who advised that two bicycles had been stolen from their residence. The officer obtained the necessary information for the report and provided the reportee with the case number assigned to the incident.

Theft 

At 2:51 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 5600 block of Kirby in regards to a theft in progress.  Prior to officers arrival, the suspect had left the business in a black vehicle last seen heading northbound on Kirby. The officer searched the area and was unable to locate the suspect.  It was discovered through investigations that the suspect took two articles of clothing without consent.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle 

At 9:08 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of Arbuckle in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle report. It was reported that an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unsecured vehicle and removed approximately $30.00 cash and a laptop computer valued at $2,500.00 without consent of the owner.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle 

At 1:00 p.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of Arbuckle in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle that already occurred. The owner reported an unknown person entered his vehicle and took his personal property without his consent. No suspects were located at this time.

Public Intoxication 

At 3:57 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 6300 block of Weslayan and observed a male passed out inside a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 6300 block of Weslayan. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the West University Place Police Department jail without incident.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle 

At 6:12 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 2800 block of Jarrard in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. The complainant stated an unknown person rummaged through their unsecured vehicles without consent.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle 

At 7:45 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a residence located in the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway for a report of a burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the victim who stated that an unknown person(s) entered her vehicle without consent.  The victim advised that her vehicle was parked on her driveway on 04/08/2012 at 9:35 p.m.. On 04/09/2012 at 7:30 a.m., the victim observed that her vehicle was rummaged through. The victim advised that the vehicle was not locked during the time of this incident. The victim stated that nothing appeared to be missing from inside her vehicle.
