Community Drive Reopened after Undergoing Emergency Repair
Community Drive has reopened after being closed several weeks for an emergency repair.
There was a void under a large portion of the street pavement following the ribbon cut in the center of the street paving. It took three to four weeks to resolve the problem, but residents had access to their driveways, Assistant City Manager and Public Works Director Chris Peifer said.
The city discovered the issue after receiving a call from a resident who was concerned about the condition of the street.
An inspection by the city’s engineer found that the street pavement throughout the entire block needed to be replaced.
Peifer said the drought contributed to the street problem and city staff is keeping their eye on other streets with similar issues.
The West U City Council recently approved $84,697 for the project.
