Cockrell Butterfly Center Holds Annual Spring Plant Sale
The Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, One Hermann Circle Drive, will hold their annual spring plant sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 4.
Many plants that local butterflies depend on for survival are disappearing as natural areas are being developed, said museum representatives. Office parks and new housing developments are often landscaped with non-native plant species, so butterflies are rarely seen in densely populated areas. Houstonians can help reverse this trend and bring back local butterflies by purchasing butterfly-friendly plants, some for as little as $3, and including them in their home or office landscape.
