Class On Fruit Trees For Houston’s Climate

November 28, 2009

A charitable group that promotes gardening in urban areas is hosting an event next week to teach people about fruit trees that will grow around Houston.

“We are fast approaching fruit tree planting season,” according to a statement from the organization, Urban Harvest.

The Dec. 5 event at the University of Houston’s Oberholtzer Hall features a citrus tasting class at 10 a.m., then at 12:30 p.m. people can learn about how to plant and care for fruit trees.

Urban Harvest is hosting the two events in preparation for a January fruit tree sale, and the educational talk will focus on trees available at that sale.

The tasting class costs $22 for members and $33 for non-members. The fruit tree educational class costs $10 for everyone.
